The Magic of Hand-Tied Extensions
One of the most rewarding parts about being a stylist is having the ability to completely change someone’s perception of themselves. As an extension specialist, I’ve had the honor of performing some of the most impactful transformations on my clients. When I look back at some of the transformations that have most touched my heart, one client in particular comes to mind. She is a total warrior and a survivor of breast cancer, but treatment had left her hair feeling thinner and lifeless. As a remission gift to herself, she decided to treat herself hand tied extensions for volume and thickness. I will never forget the emotion on her face when she saw the big reveal and I’ll never forget how much confidence she had leaving the salon. There was literally not a dry eye in the entire salon. It was such an impactful moment for me and reaffirmed how gratifying it is to actually be able to change lies with this service.
Hand tied extensions may seem confusing since they’re a bit of a newer service and growing rapidly in popularity. For my first blog post, I’m going to be breaking down the ins and outs of hand tied extensions, the different options available, and the overall magic that comes with having all the hair.
A common misconception about extensions is that you can only have long mermaid hair down to your butt, that they will look like a sheet of hair and totally unnatural, and that they’re super high maintenance. This could not be further from the truth. To start off, let’s talk about our Subtle option – the one row. This option is best suitable if your main goal is to increase volume and density in the hair. It will help support the style you already have. With this service we can add up to 1.5” of length but adding more than that isn’t achievable.
Have you ever been cruising through Pinterest and bemoaned the fact that your hair doesn’t ever look like the beautiful photos? Maybe the sides of your hair just seem so,so thin? Or your hair never seems to grow past a certain length? Perhaps you love being super blonde but somehow that never seems to correlate to super long? There’s a multitude of reasons why our hair might not be living its best life. Postpartum loss, medication and/or hormonal shifts, bad haircut, too much haircolor… the list goes on. This is when you might consider the magic of hand tied hair extensions. Now, before you say anything about not wanting to look like a mermaid or not wanting to commit to a ton of maintenance, hear me out.
At Fringe Collective, our hand tied extension specialists have created a Subtle option for clients who just want to increase the volume and density of their natural hair. With the exception of having to be more careful when brushing your hair, maintenance at home is much the same as it has always been (although we may suggest some tweaks to your routine based on your hair history and goals). The best part, our Subtle extension option only requires salon visits every 8 weeks! We send you home with all the products and knowledge you’ll need to care for your new hair at home just to make it extra easy for you.
For all my mermaids, Rapunzels and hair goddesses, we gotchu too! If you want ALL the hair, we have options for that too. Typically, if you’re a client wanting more than an extra 1.5” of length we will go with our Luxe option. This option still only requires salon visits every 8 weeks believe it or not! And for the time between visits you just get to sit back and enjoy all the compliments on your glorious mane.
