Quick Ways to Update Your Hair

We all get bored with our hair from time to time.

Check out some of my suggestions on how to update your hair quickly !

1. Change your part.

Move it to the left, right or the middle, Zig zag it, make it deeper or move it closer to the middle. There’s very little right or wrong, the main objective is to try it in a different place than you usually wear it. This is the NUMBER 1 thing I suggest to clients who are feeling bored with their hair. There is zero commitment to changing your part and it can dramatically change how your hair looks in about 30 seconds!

2. Add an accessory.

Have you noticed that scrunchis are back in? Even if you’re not ready to jump back on that train, take a trip to Target or even your nearest grocery store and cruise down the aisle to check out the hair accesories. Try a few new things out and see what you think. We are seeing lots of windblown boho hair right now, so don’t worry about perfection. When in doubt, invest in bobby pins that are close to your haircolor. These come in clutch when you want to sweep a few strands off your face your hair is too short to catch in your ponytail.

3. Try styling half up/ half down.

Often we get stuck in a rut with our daily styling. Try wearing your hair half up/ half down. This style draws the eye up and opens your face at the same time it draws the eye down, slimming your neck and drawing attention to your collarbones. Nothing boring or routine about that!

4. Create some beachy waves!

Use your flat iron, curling iron, wand or hot rollers to create some fun, sexy movement in your hair. Pro tip! Keep your sections vertical and try to start the first bend in the wave between cheekbone and ear level to make the look seem effortless and natural.

5.  Bangs

Yes, I said it. Add some bangs. Of course I recommend seeing your stylist to do this for you. Nothing changes your look up quite like bangs can. And they are almost always universally flattering. Side swept, full fringe, peek-a-boo. … The possibilities are nearly endless and if you decide you don’t like them you can just grow them back out.

6. Get a color gloss.

See your stylist for a quick color gloss to give your hair a fun update. Gloss or glaze sits just under the cuticle layer of the hair so it isn’t a permanent commitment. You won’t be able to make a dramatic change with a gloss but it is fun way to try out a warmer, cooler or darker shade than you’ve currently got!

7. Schedule an Appointment with Your Stylist.

Let your stylist help guide you in the right direction for an updated look. We’ve been trained to ask the right questions about your lifestyle, hair history, likes, dislikes and maintenance schedule. Be open to your stylists suggestions as well as be open to changing your routine a bit. Remember the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result...
